Toxins

BOTOX® is an FDA-approved, purified protein injected in tiny amounts into facial muscles that cause wrinkling between the eyebrows (frown lines) and around the eyes (crow's feet). These wrinkles are caused by overactive facial muscles. BOTOX® blocks the chemicals that cause these muscles to contract. The muscles relax and the wrinkling and creasing effects are diminished. The effects last from 3 to 4 months.

XEOMIN® (incobotulinumtoxinA) is used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (frown lines) in adults. XEOMIN® contains botulinum toxin type A, a protein purified from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. XEOMIN® acts on nerve endings in muscles to prevent muscle fibers from contracting. By reducing these contractions, XEOMIN® can temporarily reduce the lines on your forehead between your brows. The typical duration of effect is up to 3 months, but may last significantly longer or shorter in individual patients.

What are toxins?
